Main idea: Interesting animes such as Nodame Cantabile give self-confidence to anime fans and make them show their true colors because of certain unique characters/roles.

Anime is interesting because the stories and characters are attractive. The basic strategy of Japanese comic is the setting of characters. The character should be ordinary and has similar age with readers. In order to narrow the distance between the character and readers. Make them have a sense of identity and project themselves on the character. This will arouse their interest in reading the comic and then like it. The setting of the characters are also based on the authors' fantasy. Those kind of people won't really exist in reality. Especially their dramatic facial expression and costumes. They can do things we aren't able to do.

The characters in anime influence anime fans a lot, take me for example, my favorite comic book, Gintama, is a comedy always makes me laugh. The main character is also the one that I identify with the most. He is very lazy and is mean to others, but when someone is in need he will definitely help him or her. No matter what kind of mess he gets into, he will find a way to solve it. This comic book gives me a lot of courage to face my difficulties.

What kind of positions does anime plays in your mind? To me, it is the introductory textbook of Japanese culture; it is a good partner of learning Japanese and it is a good helper to start a conversation to communicate with people. The most important of all, it is an exit. It is an exit to escape from reality. In my busy life, when I encounters difficulties I usually chooses to escape. To escape into a world different from reality. Sitting in front of the TV watching anime or reading comics on the bed or toilets, is my simplest way to face the problems and I can always get comfort from it. To visit my favorite scene in anime is just like walking into the screen or the comic pages, the feelings are incredible. This gives me the courage and strength to return to real life.

Because of the influences, most of the anime fans aren't afraid to show their true selves. So they invented an activity called "cosplay". Maybe they are a shy person during their daily lives but when it comes to cosplaying, they will become very confident, they are very "into" the character they identified to themselves. According to a TV show Andrew Zimmern's "Explore Cosplay in Tokyo", the cosplayer he interviewed said the cosplay's purpose is " different character different life". Cosplay is an antidote to the cosplayer's high stress job, she also said it is cool to sort of get lost into another world. And one of a hottest trends right now is women going as boys. Because they are girl already, so they can wear skirts in daily life. So they want to try to become "handsome boys" in cosplay's world. Cosplayers hide their own personality and implantation the anime characters' personality in order to expand the other side of themselves. They will get a sense of accomplishment from being photographed , watched, approved and praised. They will also be satisfied which is what they can't get from their daily life.
